When my daughter was born, I searched high and low for this turtle, ignoring bad reviews on the internet. I wanted to see it myself, and finally found it at a kid's boutique when my daughter was a few months old. True, no one has a tall dresser in the middle of a room, which would be the most desired place for this product to sit for it to work as intended. Still, it could be placed on a high book case and the stars will light up the wall and be faint on the ceiling. Green and blue lights work best. Amber can hardly be seen. When the batteries went out, I bought some and discovered that the batteries that came with the turtle (included as a "TRY ME" advantage) had corroded. Verilux Natural Spectrum HappyLite Mini Ultra, Silver Bright light but not harsh. Great way to start the morning. Whether it really works or is just a placebo affect, I feel much less sluggish even after a couple of gloomy weather days if I use this while I eat breakfast.

I got this for evening reading. Pros: It provides enough light for me with only 27 watts. Heavy-duty design makes it stand very stable. Cons: Color is not very beautiful. And shape is not very "fashion". So, it is a good choice if you need good light for reading but not VERY care about the design.

My daughter loves it the moment she got hands on it. She now likes holding it before she gets to sleep. I like the timer function which just shuts itself in about 15mins. The material looks very durable, it is like a hard (a bit rubbery) plastic. It has also the rainbow mode where it cycles through the different color. I was ready to order more as a christmas presents but saw Amazon has 4-7 wks leadtime now.

This is a cute item and we like that it supports conservation efforts, however the stars are HUGE.. When we put the turtle on a table (3 feet off the ground) in her room the stars shine on the ceiling and walls about two inches wide. They are also really dim and it has to be really dark to see them. We expected that the stars would be smaller that there would be more of them. Based on the photos and their 'promotion' that you could see 'constillations' it was not exactly what we expected.

Product works well, arrived on time, and is bright enough for reading and lighting the room. My wife wanted me to replace an older quartz tourchiere that was very hot. She was concerned about overheating and the possibility of fire. The flourescent lamp runs very cool, and puts out nearly an equivalent amount of light. Not to mention uses less electricity.
