When my daughter was born, I searched high and low for this turtle, ignoring bad reviews on the internet. I wanted to see it myself, and finally found it at a kid's boutique when my daughter was a few months old. True, no one has a tall dresser in the middle of a room, which would be the most desired place for this product to sit for it to work as intended. Still, it could be placed on a high book case and the stars will light up the wall and be faint on the ceiling. Green and blue lights work best. Amber can hardly be seen. When the batteries went out, I bought some and discovered that the batteries that came with the turtle (included as a "TRY ME" advantage) had corroded. My daughter loves it the moment she got hands on it. She now likes holding it before she gets to sleep. I like the timer function which just shuts itself in about 15mins. The material looks very durable, it is like a hard (a bit rubbery) plastic. It has also the rainbow mode where it cycles through the different color. I was ready to order more as a christmas presents but saw Amazon has 4-7 wks leadtime now.

This is a cute item and we like that it supports conservation efforts, however the stars are HUGE.. When we put the turtle on a table (3 feet off the ground) in her room the stars shine on the ceiling and walls about two inches wide. They are also really dim and it has to be really dark to see them. We expected that the stars would be smaller that there would be more of them. Based on the photos and their 'promotion' that you could see 'constillations' it was not exactly what we expected.

I LOVE this product!!! My daughter has been afraid of the dark as long as I can remember. What I love is that this can go with us anywhere. It has been wonderful on vacations, grandparents stays, car rides, hospital stays; basically anywhere dark. We use the yellow, which I think casts a very natural light. She sleeps with it at her head every night. It's become my standard baby shower gift and I get many kudos from new mom's that don't want to turn on the light at night, but want enough light to attend to their baby. Only complaint, after two years of excessive use, it doesn't stay lit as long. But we still get a good 8 hours out of it every night. Just remember to recharge it immediately each morning.

If you're looking for a light to provide minimal lighting during a power failure then this is your light. If you're not familiar with LED lights they will not be confused with their non-LED counterparts but are bright enough to read by or do emergency maintenance in no electricity situations. It would be nice if the nightlight could be turned off so this only lit up during power failures however it isn't a deal breaker but if you prefer to sleep in the dark don't put this light in the room with you unless you want it off completely and can get to it in the dark. This light has been our best and longest lasting LED light. The other ones still work but have minor issues that are irritating. This is one of my essential items that I use daily that I could absolutely not live without (along with BumGenius diapers, LilyPads, and my Think Pink bouncer). This nightlight comes on when it gets dark automatically and then turns off when the room is light enough. You never have to switch any switches. It gives a nice soft glow to the room but not bright enough that you can't sleep. I was able to breastfeed my little girl (she spent the first 3 months of her life sleeping at night in our bedroom in a bassinet) taking her into bed with me to feed and putting her back in the bassinet after, with only the glow of this nightlight. This is a cute nightlight but not what I expected. First it is not at all transparent, rather it is a thick and heavy almost clunky piece, so light is simply thrown to the sides of the decorative front bit. And, on the first use, it fell completely apart from some manhandling by our one year old (who is admittedly fairly rough but probably not more so than the average boy). So, it lasted literally all of 30 minutes or so and went straight into the garbage.

It's a nice night light, but it's for small rooms. I don't like that it can't turn. The sockets in the room are sideways and so is the light. You can't see the star design that is suppose to light up the room due to that. Other than that, it's a great night light. The double pack was great in case of a big room, but the sockets need to be far apart.
