The Superyard XT is just what we needed. We already had gates on the stairs but our little one who recently found his new freedom that crawling allowed didn't want to stay in the living room and play with his toys any longer. All he wanted to do is explore. We actually have the Superyard stretched out and runs from the fireplace across the hallway to the stairs blocking off his access to a bathroom and kitchen. It stays stable with some small kinks at the joints so it's not in a straight line that he can't knock it down. It's high enough that he can't get over but low enough for a teenager and above to step over.

I recently purchased this gate, and wish I had known about it before I spent nearly $200.00 on another gate and extensions to fit a doorway of 53" that broke already! This gate is easy to assemble, VERY sturdy, and easy to move. I even traveled with this gate! The chocolate and cream color are attractive, and so is the price! If i would have found this gate earlier, i would have bought 3 or 4 of them. The only issue i can see for others would be that you must step over the gate while it is up, unless you want to take it down and put it back up again. I bought the right ones and inexpensive... Keep in mind that the gate does not have swing door. If I was shorter than 5'3", I could not cross over the gate. Other than that it was great buy.

We had been looking for a gate like this since we got our new puppy Tonka. I was pretty lucky to find it at my local thrift store brand new for $18...great price! It is easy to install and I don't understand how people think it's hard to install. We, too, thought that there was something missing from the pressure bolts that go on the side. Once you fit the gate in the doorway, you have to screw it to where it applies pressure to the wall. I can see where the confusion would be, but coming from someone who doesn't know a thing about handy work, it was pretty easy to figure out. It's the perfect size for our puppy (he's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier) and he won't be able to jump over it since he'll only get to about 16 inches tall. We highly recommend this gate and it seems very sturdy!

Believe me! It's the best baby gate I found so far. And we had them all. This is my ninth gate (no kidding), I tried. I looked for a solid, easy to open, wide opening top of stair gate to keep my 7 months old from falling down our stairs. One of our other gates (The First Years All Clear Swing Gate) was good for a while and smooth to open, but broke when our 28 lbs toddler leaned against it (two small plastic pieces with screws inside). I could not fix it - even using all my Mc Giver tools and knowledge. Most of the others could not be opened with one hand and were too narrow to walk thru with a toddler, a baby and some shopping bags. I did not pay much attention to this Evenflo gate as it is cheap and did not seem sturdy enough for my very active 2 year old, but I was wrong. :-) Read More

Like others have said, this is a very nice wood & metal gate. It is very pretty and is sturdy. Much better than the plastic gates that bend too easily. The latch is easy to open and locks automatically when swinging shut. It's also short enough to step over if you have your hands full. I'm buying a second one for a different door.

I love this gate. I use at the top of the stairs, it works great. Even though I have it pressure mounted it stays snug even when my older kids (3 & 4) try to shake it back and forth on a daily basis. I like that it is easy to take down if I need to and fairly simple to remount. The self closing feature is also very nice. And so far my 18 month old has been unable to climb it, which was the problem with our previous gates. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I love this gate! I have three like stated above! One to block off a pellet / wood stove. And the other two for when or whatever I need. They can block off the kitchen or be used together and have a huge play yard for horse shows or family visits. Its great! Very easy to install took me less than 30 mins right out of the box. My son and 4 dogs all over a hundred lbs have been quite hard on it and its held up amazing!
