Although this shoe was manufactured by Brooks a couple of years ago (I assume they are still selling old stock, not manufacturing new each year), my serious runner daughter (40-50 miles a week) liked them so well last year she wanted the same style again this year. I took advantage of a sale for about $45, and Amazon was also offering 20% off running shoes plus $20 off $100 worth of running shoe purchase. So, SCORE! Three pairs for about $100!! It is better to rest shoes between runs, so since she runs every day, she can rotate them. Shoes last only about 500 miles. What is odd is that the price went up again after I purchased them, from 45 to 69. What's up with that?

Excellent running shoe along with fast and reliable service through Amazon. They tend to be a little stiff the first day you use them, but they comform great as they get broken in. Ventilation is second to none! A true bang for the buck when purchased through Amazon (about a 30% saving)

This shoe is a great running shoe. Comes in my size 5 1/2 WW, which is hard to find in a shoe. I would recommend the shoe for wide & small feet. gmw

I bought these for long (6-15 miles) runs on asphalt or concrete, and for that they work wonderfully...very sturdy and comfortable. The reason I don't use them for softer surfaces like dirt or grass, or for shorter runs, and especially not for speedwork, is their weight---the same massive amount of cushioning needed for long runs on hard surfaces is totally unnecessary and counterproductive for other applications. A lighter, thinner-soled and more flexible shoe is much better in those situations. Generally am very happy with all of my Brooks shoes and apparel. Brooks makes ONLY running gear, so you know they're going to be good since it's their sole bread and butter specialty. This is my second pair of brooks shoes and I hardly wear anything else. My ankles are crooked and overpronate leading to trips and falls. These shoes do a great job keeping me upright. Because I use my own orthotic with them, I buy a size larger than my normal shoe. The shoes were comfortable from day one and I highly recommend them.

These are the most comfortable pair of running shoes I've ever worn. My feet get a little beat up from wearing cleats all the time, so cushy running shoes like these are great. I have high arches and a neutral gait, if that information is helpful in assessing this review. The first reviewer, is right, though, if you want to "feel the road", buy something else.
