DVD : Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Collector's Set (40 discs)

Rating: - A much beloved television Classic
I'm ashamed to admit that I lost track of Buffy after the end of the fifth season. I regret that, as the 6th and 7th seasons sent the characters in interesting new directions. The Season Overview on the DVDs were particularly helpful in reevaluating my negative opinion. Once I understood where Joss and the writers were going, I was able to sit back and finally enjoy the episodes for what they were.

Overall, Buffy The Vampire Slayer is the story of a young person's journey from their awkward teenage years to the cusp of young adulthood. Seeing Buffy's transformation from an ebullient uncertain teen to a strong and confident leader is incredible viewing. And the journey of the other characters (Willow and Xander in particular) is no less affecting.

This new package is a complete collection of all the previously released Buffy DVD Boxsets. The only new addition is an extra DVD disc featuring new documentaries about different aspects of the series. My favourite is the retrospective from Cast and crew members. It's great to see that they still have such fond memories of the show that they put so much time, hard work and commitment into.

It's great to look back on Buffy over half-a-decade after it ended. Considering mass entertainment's tendency to gravitate towards mediocrity, it's a miracle this show ended up on television at all. It's also a miracle that Joss was able to sheperd the show all the way to its conclusion. Particularly after the experiences of Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) and Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls).

Buffy is (and remains) one of my favourite TV series. And the show is just as relevant today as it was back then.

"Buffy" is a classic and a must-have - it doesn't get any better than this! All episodes in one box plus plenty of extras is definitely worth the hundred bucks.
I'd recommend this to anyone who likes Sci-Fi, Fantasy or just plain old fighting. :)

A must have for all Buffy fans. It's great that all 7 seasons come compact and neat in this set. Seasons 2& 3 are by far the best! Season 5 is a great follow up and finally season 7 redeems the show after a horrible season 6. I'm so glad I bought this so I dont have to borrow different seasons from my friend when I need a quick Buffy fix!

Rating: - I am now complete
I've wanted this series for such a long time. And now that I finally have it, I want for nothing else! (Except maybe Angel....) I watch multiple episodes a day, and my productivity has definitely decreased.

The box is a beauty, all 7 seasons stacked up nice and neat. My only complaint is with the coloring of the pages of the guide, and the alternation between a picture and the episode listings. It seems absolutely random. Also, it would have been nice if we could play all the episodes on a disc at once, instead of having to click around the menus each time one episode ends to play the next episode.

But that's a small price to pay for owning the complete collection.

AFter watching a few discs I rented from Netflixs, I got hooked on Buffy! So as a birthday present to me, I bought this set for myself. Not only is it great to have all the episodes, but there is sssoo much extras that I haven't even gotten to yet. It is great to be able to get in Joss Whedon and the writer's/actor's heads and see what they were thinking. This set is a must have for a for any Buffy fan or someone who likes anything by Joss!
