Rating: - Hummingbirds love this feeder!
We have over 20 hummingbirds feeding off these and I had to replace one that just wore out and ended up buying two because of the great price! I've used other feeders and the plastic just doesn't hold up as well as the solid glass of this product. The little flowers tend to break off, but they can be replaced (sold separately). I never use any soap..maybe a tiny bit of bleach (if necessary) to clean (soaking it is best and using a toothbrush to scrub the flowers) and I make my own feeding solution (1 cup sugar to 4 cups boiling water). If ants are a problem, get the ant guards - they work very well. What I like especially about these is they prevent the bees from getting in to the feeder (holes are too small). We spend hours watching these amazing birds. You can actually watch the level of solution drop as they use the feeder. I am now going through a half-gallon of feed each day!

This feeder is a lifesaver! It is the same as the more expensive feeders f this size. Easy to fill, easy to clean. Now we only fill the feeder every three days instead of every day!

Rating: - Not easy to clean
(This is Frank's wife writing. He isn't in to dealing with hummingbird feeders. He just likes watching the birds.)
I'm not sure how well this hummingbird feeder actually works as I never tried it. As soon as I opened the box and found that the bottle for holding the food had a neck of less than an inch in diameter along with "square shoulders", I realized that I would never be able to clean it thoroughly. (Had I been able to see a picture of the individual parts of the feeder, I would have realized it wasn't for me and not ordered it.) I have hummingbird feeders that are truly easy to clean. However, they hold only 2 cups of food and at peak season out here on Whidbey Island (Washington state), I was having to refill/top off my four feeders twice a day. So, the larger capacity of the Perky feeder appealed to me. Nevertheless, the ability to clean my feeders properly is more important to me than the convenience of not having to tend to them so frequently, so I returned the feeders to Amazon unused.

I have tried several different types of hummingbird feeders, ones that were very cute and decorative and the birds NEVER drink from them. The Perky Pet 209 Hummingbird Feeder attracts hummingbirds and are here constantly.

I did look this product over at a local hardware store.My husband saw an antique glass feeder that was being sold next to this one and we bought that instead and it works great. Important things to remember about feeders is that you need to be able to clean them every 3 or 4 days at the latest. Hummingbirds are delicate so its really important to keep to a cleaning routine. I make my own nectar 4 pts water(2 cups) with 1 part organic sugar(1/2 cup). You boil it for 1 to 2 minutes, then cool and put in the fridge. Fills a glass feeder twice. I change usually on Sundays and Wednesdays. The hummingbird comes all the time. They are such wonderful creatures. Also,please don't add red food coloring. You do not need it to attract them and its also potentially damaging. I place the feeder among my bleeding heart bushes.The bird frequents the feeder all day long.
