This book is fascinating. It personalizes the history of 9/11, taking us into the mind and culture of those who founded it, and those who laid down the philosophy before it. It is a gripping read, highly factual, but written in a way that pulls you in to the story and gives you breadth about the characters, and the evolution towards increased bloodshed and the incompetence of the American bureaucracy in dealing with it. Not an easy read, but an important read if one wants to understand how we got where we are in terms of Bin Laden, Al Queda, 9/11, and the war on terror.

We must understand the past if we are to understand the future. Otherwise, we will make the same mistakes again...

This is a litany of our mistakes, missed opportunities, and misunderstandings that led to 9/11.

It is impressive that this book is written without casting blame or second guessing. It just lays it out there, warts, moles and all.

That makes this a very important book for our age. A very important book. A "must read" for anyone who wants to understand the world in which we live.
