Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - I doubt I will be purchasing any other books by 'HARLAN COBEN'
Okay here's is my very own thoughts. This book started out a bit interesting in the first two or three chapters. But then after that, then came the introduction of all these other different characters. This just completely lost me! The most annoying thing about this book is when the writer used all these strange words and acronyms such as KGB and the list goes on and on. I mean how does he expect the reader to understand some of the things written in this book? There were times when this book actually held my attention and other times where no matter what, it would just not keep me interested. The entire plot/storyline of this book became so, extremely confusing to the point where I just wanted to throw this book away or burn it. And I find this camp thing very childish. Here you have a story about some teens being murdered AT A SUMMER CAMP because a girl teased a guy? I mean it's just soo ugh! So childish and stupid! This story was for me, extremely complicated. And I do not look forward to purchasing anymore Harlan Coben books. But if you are an individual who likes to buy and read foolishness then yes I highly recommend this piece of garbage to you! And also I did not like the ending too much. This could have been much better!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Brilliant
As far as thrillers go this was very good. The characters were deep and enthralling, keeping your interest all the way through. There was enough suspense to keep you turning the pages, and plenty of action. If you enjoy Lee Child`s Jack Reacher books then this will please you. I`m a series fan and enjoy Child and Michael Connelly books immensely, if you like that kind of thriller read the `Soft Target` books by Conrad Jones. They are unputdownable!! Back to the review, ten out of ten.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Suspense Packed Book!
The star of this book is Paul Copeland the Essex County Prosecutor. He
and his former girlfriend Lucy Gold were involved in an incident at a summer camp. Two teenagers were murdered and two more dissapeared. One of
the dissapearing teenagers was Copeland's sister. Wayne Steubens the Summer Slasher was convicted of the murders. One of the missing teens,Gil Perez is finally found,a murder victim. Copeland begins to wonder if hif sister Camille could be alive as well. Copeland is involved in a high profile case. Pressure is being applied to stop his prosecution of two
wealthy college kids. Besides all of this he is raising a 6 year old daughter as well. There are many twists and turns as thie camp mystery
is unraveled. Deep unknown secrets are uncovered as this story evolves.
This is an excellent thriller that you should take time to read. You will
enjoy this book.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - a very readable and *controlled* mystery by Coben
Harlan Coben is one of my favorite mystery writers. His prose is very readable and easy flowing. Dialog and characterizations are always excellent. 'The Woods' have all these fine qualities. However Coben has a tendency to throw in too many plot twists in the end which often ruin an otherwise excellent read. And in 'The Woods', a story about people coming to terms with a multiple homicide which occurred twenty years ago in a wooded campground, the author throws in a few plot twists but they are mercifully restrained. And so overall reading 'The Woods' is an enjoyable experience.

Bottom line: although relatively short on any sort of "WOW!" factor, 'The Woods' is a fine mystery. Well done.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not Coben's best....maybe 3 stars
Harlan Coben's series starring Myron Bolitar are must read books. This book, "The Woods," is not worth your time. No, it's not a terrible read, but it is far from Coben's best.

In this mystery/thriller, Paul Copeland is a big time district attorney who is still grieving about a camp that he helped out with while in high school. His sister and a few others were brutally killed at the camp....or were they?

Skip ahead twenty years. Copeland is a widowder with a young daughter. His life is not bad, but he still wonders about what happened at the camp out in those woods. The plots are everywhere as Copeland deals with a rape case involving an call girl and a fraternity house along with another political issue about his wife's foundation that raises money for cancer research. Oh, and there is a KGB twist along with a serial killer in prison. Confused? You should be.

The book was too long, too weird and too confusing. He meets his old girlfriend from the camp and the book just never got rolling. When it ended I was disappointed. Coben can do far better. Skip this unless you just want to read all of his works.
