Tried and true conservative here that loved the snippets of wit and humor riddled throughout the book. However, i was surprised at how slowly the book developed. It felt as though the entire first half of the book was hearing about how good the book was going to be and how far our socks would be knocked off if we continued reading. Finally, upon reaching the chapters that directly address common criticisms of the proposed tax system, you get some real meat and potatoes. Solid arguments, heck of a fantastic tax replacement idea - but I noticed far too many reviewers reviewing and rating the actual Fair Tax on here instead of the book. Admittedly, it's hard to separate the two when rating, but really I'd place this book somewhere between 3 and 4 stars due to its slow developments, constant contradictions (none vital to the basis of the Fair Tax at least), and far too much "sales" language in the text although the authors attest to the exact opposite approach no less than nineteen times throughout.
If you're tired of the IRS and ridiculous tax system we all are enslaved to, this book can't possibly fill your head with any poor notions; let's make it a reality instead of just a best-seller.

Rating: - Educating the ignorant: One reader at a time.
Fairtax: The Truth: Answering the Critics is much more in depth than the original Fairtax book. This book goes into further detail and the graphs and charts help explain the Fairtax in a way that just words cannot. Unfortunately, this book still does not "dumb down" the explanations enough to sink in with the vast majority of the ignorant voters in America. Getting the "masses" to understand embedded taxes and that corporations and businesses DO NOT PAY TAXES is going to be a huge hurdle in getting the Fairtax passed. The majority of Americans still want corporations to get taxed heavily and to get sued, not knowing that each and every one of us has to pay for all of it in higher prices on the goods and services brought to market by those companies. Only the citizens of America can put pressure on those politicians that have not learned about the Fairtax. I will keep trying and doing my part to convert as many as I can. Hopefully, every person that reads this book will attempt to convert others so that the movement keeps gaining traction. Maybe if we get the audio CD price down enough (the CD is more expensive than the book???), those that WILL NOT READ will LISTEN and learn. Maybe someone could get the audio version in the hands of every politician so that the politician will not keep relying on their pages and helpers to explain the Fairtax to them. FairTax: The Truth is a book that had to be written to expose the misconceptions one finds everywhere. Although not necessary, I would advise everyone to read The Fair Tax Book first. Hopefully in reading this book eveyone will realize this is the best thing we could do for our economy, national security and making taxes fair and transparent. It will give the power back to the people. Read this and then become involved with the grassroots movement! [...]
