I've read all of his works. My favorites are The Alchemist, The Fifth Mountain and The Wich of Portobello. His vivid portrayal of the characters and their development is brilliant. This is Coelho at his best !

Rating: - enjoy the ride
This is the 1st time I have read this author. I enjoyed it for the most part . Getting different perspectives as the story is told through several different people is so much like real life . They all have their own reality...whatever reality is I do not really know .This is a story about a woman finding herself...a spiritual journey . She may be a witch , but it is no different than any other religion . She tells us to be different...do things differently...that doesn't differ to me from the Bible saying to take risks . We find that in many religions . as for the ending...I rather liked it..I did not see it as a copout as some suggest. I enjoyed the ride , just like I do in everyday I exist . Try it ...your time will not be wasted . Read it with an open mind.

Rating: - A great addition to Coelho's collection
I am a big fan of Coelho's books and The Witch of Portobello did not disappoint. It is a fast read, the middle does drag a bit but the ending pulls everything together. What I like most about this book was the interesting POV, the story being told through different people's perceptions of a single woman. Very enlightening and beautifully written.

Rating: - A flash in the pan
Coehlo came out firing with The Alchemist and By the River Piedra, however since then his writing has quickly slid. With redundant and dry prose, undergraduate philosophy and psychology, Coehlo uses his early successes to dupe readers into buying another "International Bestseller". Don't waist your money unless you are desperately in need of being beat over the head with the phrases 'follow your heart' and 'be who you were meant to be'.
