This is NOT literature. If you thought the Da Vinci Code was a great book, you will probably like it. If you're into REAL literature, don't even try. Read something by Saramago instead, now that's a real writer.

Rating: - Lost in Translation
It's a good book with a great message overall. I just wish that I were fluent in Spanish, because I think that it would read better in the original language. It seems that stories like this often lose something in the translation. I would recommend this book. It is a pretty good read, a little strange at times, but so are the lives that it is portraying.

Rating: - A great story intertwined with life changing messages.
I was surprised at how this story began. How could a girl who believed she was completely normal, and not having any detrimental circumstances just decide to end her life? I think we all imagine (hope anyway) that there's a darn good reason for someone to do this kind of thing. I was surprised that the reasons could be as simple and complicated at the same time as Veronika's were.

Veronika fails in her suicide attempt and is placed in a mental hospital. She has a Dr. who convinces her she only has a week or two to live, while he secretly conducts an experiment to bring her out of her depression and give her the will to live.

As with all of Paulo Coelho's stories, there are many revelations throughout the story, one being that she actually did die to her old life and ways of thinking when she took those pills to begin with. While Veronika is in the hospital, her presence greatly touches and affects the lives of some other patients.

I'm not a speed reader, but I read this over the course of one day, (210 pages)and I enjoyed the story. There were many things that I read with chill bumps thinking that the author could have been speaking directly to me. Which is one of the many reasons why I love this author's books. He knows about life and how to relate and teach things through his stories. In the back of the book, there is an interesting section on the author's inspiration for the book and some personal insights about his experiences.

Rating: - Gives Valuable lessons for life
I loved this book because it gives valuable lessons for life and makes living more interesting. Mr Coelho is a talented writer unlike other writers he makes you feel like you are with them in the scene. What attracted my attention the most was how realistic this book was and how it could change many people's opinion on life and it could even change the way they live. If there was a rating of 6 stars I would've chosen it.
If you haven't read it then you're missing alot on life!

Rating: - Paulo Coelho is awesome!
I think we've all had a moment in our lives that we think it's not worth it to go on even if we've thought is for one split second. I found this book really interesting and worth the read. Paulo Coelho writes books of true life and the meaning behind them. He always has a message in his book and I enjoy reading his work because of it. Loved the ending of this book.
