- Cool concept, wish it was brighter
I've had this light for about 6 months and found it to be okay. It's just fine for navigating a dark room or finding something you lost under the couch, but it is not bright enough for tricky repair work or walking outdoors. I'm happy I have it as an emergency light, as it will never need batteries, but I wish it was brighter. I am considering getting a few more to keep around the house for emergencies, but when I need to do something detailed, or see something far away (more than about 4 feet) I usually go get a battery powered flashlight.

I shake it for about 10 or 20 seconds, and can get maybe a minute of light out of it, before it gets significantly dimmer. I've dropped it more than once and it hasn't broken yet. Sometimes I just continuously shake it to get a brighter ... Read More

- Anyone want free light?
I bought this light because it had 5 star reviews on Amazon. I received it today, and I will be returning it today. Several things I noticed immediately. First we'll talk about the good.
1. This is a true honest to goodness Faraday light. It does produce power by shaking.
2. Looks like it has "double coils" which seems like a good idea.
3. Fairly tough for plastic and appears to be water resistant.
4. I like the blinking LED option. If you switch it to one side it is on, center is off, and other side is flash mode.
So why would I return it?
1. Arnold Schwarzaneggar could probably shake this light fine, but me I'd rather strap it to the paint shaker. The rubber boots on each end seem to soak up all the shake and it makes a good workout. I did notice ... Read More

I was looking for a flashlight which didn't need batteries, I think I got a very good product in this Gaiam Shakelight. Good size and brightness, never needed to shake it too much, just a couple of shakes and I get plenty of light-time. Against it, I'll have to say a find it a little pricey, supposed you can get a good shakelight for less money, but I don't regret buying it, I believe it's a good quality product.

This is a great flashlight, far better made than the cheap versions I have also bought, and the 30-second-shake lasts well over an hour. This is THE flashlight to have in your hurricane/emergency kit, you can depend on it.
