Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - great item
Thank you, I look forward to using it. I was a little puzzled by the huge box when it arrived. I couldn't imagine what was in the box. Very prompt, excellent condition.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My man suspicious, but we found this helpful planting bulbs.
Nice long length to allow use standing up. Two of us planted 56 bulbs, covered & fertilized in less than an hour in clay soil thru turf to "naturalize" bulbs in lawn, not in a bed with prepared soil. This item made the job go quickly, what a joy. When you hit a rock or a root, you just have to move over some. No good will come from trying to force this to drill through dense objects. Use some finese & even my doubting Thomas became excited to use it on other planting projects he was dreaming up. We never had to tighten this once for any of our 56 bulbs, we had to move over some 7-8 times when encountering buried obstacles. Actual smoke will come out of the hole if you persist drilling on a rock or root the size of a finger. If you think this 30" auger will push thru anything, it will ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Perfect For Gate Post Holes
Using this with a keyless chuck on my cordless 18 volt drill it did slip if I tried to force the bit into the hole, but I learned to back the bit out often to clear the dirt from the hole and let the bit do the digging. My post holes went quickly in clay. Wish I could give it a higher rating !!!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Do yourself a favor and rent a proper tool
The idea of this tool is a good one. However, the quality of the steel used in this tool and its design are poor. Demand better from manufacturers. This is a 'china tool' which has soft pot metal for its structure and little thought to its design. Save your money. It will work in sift soils and where no roots exist. But, Demand better tools from Amazon. It is 2008 not 1954.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - somewhat limited
I think that this is probably a very useful tool under the right conditions. However it is virtually useless in hard and rocky soil. The dirt needs to be loose and root free. Also the end of the shaft that sticks into the drill should be ground with several flat edges rather than perfectly round so that the drill can get a better grip on it.
