For Penelope Keith fans, it's time to be Born again. Keith, one of Britcom's leading ladies (Good Neighbors, The Norman Conquests) is in her element as indomitable aristocratic widow Audrey Forbes-Hamilton, who, in the wake of her husband's death, has been forced to sell her beloved estate to crassly commercial grocery tycoon Richard Devere (Peter Bowles) and insinuates herself into his life to make sure he abides by the traditions of her beloved ancestral home.

This volume contains episodes 14 to 17, in which Audrey is still orienting herself to her "brave new world" while keeping vigilant watch on Richard. Episode 14 further dramatizes her fallen state. Where once she and her husband picnicked on white linen, she now roughs it in the fields with "sardines and individual fruit pies." Episode 15 finds Audrey "in pugnacious form" when she organizes a protest against the shuttering of the dilapidated local railway station. Little does she know that Richard is keen on building a supermarket on the site. In episode 16, Audrey's energy-conservation drive flies in the face of Richard's recent purchase of a helicopter. Finally, Audrey plots to feather her own nest when the arrival of a rare tropical bird on the estate causes a flurry of interest.

To the Manor Born has found a welcome home on video. Impeccably acted as always, these episodes glow with the palpable affection these two natural-born antagonists come to feel for each other. --Donald Liebenson

- An Anglophile's Delight
I was thrilled with my purchase of this 4 episode VHS tape. These episodes are very rarely broadcast by my local PBS station (in fact I've only seen them once and I'm a devoted viewer). It's a real pleasure to click onto the refined comic adventures of Mrs.fforbes-Hamilton and the dashing Mr. DeVere whenever I need an English"fix". Watching any To The Manor Born episode is like having tea at Harrods.
