Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not a werewolf fan but...
This book was not what I expected. After reading what the book was about I thought it would be some romance between the auto mechanic and the wolf that shows up on her door, that is what everyone was painting. Instead, this book is a bit of a complicated mystery which had me rereading parts of it. I think this is a great start to a series, which I hope continues to get better and better. The main character is very likable and unique, she is NOT a tough cookie like everyone other heroine coming out lately, which is refreshing. I stayed away from this series for a long time, I'm not sure why, but I'm glad I decided to give it a try. Everyone who gave this 4 or 5 stars is right on the money! Read it!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Angieville: MOON CALLED
I'm still all tingly from the excitement of finding MOON CALLED. It is the first in a paranormal series about a girl named Mercy Thompson. Mercy is a VW mechanic and a walker, meaning she can shift into a coyote at will. Though not part of a pack, she was raised by one and lives across a field from the leader of the local werewolf pack. Werewolves, vampires, and other miscellaneous fae abound in Mercy's world and they all seem to want a piece of her, literally and figuratively. What makes this series the best urban fantasy I've read all year is the combination of Briggs' sophisticated writing, humor, and palpable tension (all the best kinds) woven into the narrative without ever delving down into the crass or gratuitous. They remind me of Sunshine meets a squeaky clean Sookie Stackhouse book. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent start to a great series
This series has been option for a movie deal, and I for one can't wait! Really good, easy read with a strong, fun main character. It doesn't reinvent the genre, and there's nothing spectacular in the world-building. But the characters are so much fun you don't care.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wolf folklore at its grandest
I wasn't sure what to expect from Briggs after reading so much praise for her books but it didn't take long to feel as if I passed out and woke up in werewolf heaven. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love werewolf anything so this was such a treat, totally unexpected because urban fantasy these days is such a wide mix, usually with witches and vampires with a wolf here and there, but this beast of a book has teeth, muscle, wit, charm and plenty of brawn. Briggs did an incredible job of floating the reader in a sea of incredibly perceptive werewolf folklore that was simply stunning and extremely interesting and she made it feel primordial and Earthy, the instincts, thrills and even some passion was intelligent and very deep. This book is merely a perception that its fantasy and fun, everything ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great supernatual myster/thriller
Mercy Thompson is a shifter, she can change into a coyote. Her father was part of a rodeo and died shortly after she was born, she was left to her mother to raise. That is until she found a coyote in her child's crib. She didn't know what to do so she contacted Mercy's father's people to take care of her. From there she became part of the Aspen Creek werewolf pack.

Now, she lives in the Tri-city along side a pack of werewolves. Mercy is a VW mechanic just trying to get by and do her own thing. But when she gives a strange were a job then is attacked, she steps up t the plate to figure out what is going on and how to keep war out of the were packs.

This is a great book. All of the characters are believable. And it is refreshing to see a heroin that is strong, competent, ... Read More
