Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - not one of my favorites
Not one of my favorites of the series--I'm not sure if it's because of all the little nits that bugged me, or if I noticed all the little nits because it's not one of my favorites.

The biggest thing is that I can't buy that Eve, no matter how great a cop she is, would be allowed to head a murder investigation when her best friend is the primary suspect.

Other nits:
Eve uses magnolias to describe one character's voice and another character's skin, yet doesn't recognize petunias.
There's no reason for Leonardo to wonder if he's killed someone when he wakes up, other than to provide a red herring.
Roarke admits sleeping with Pandora, yet elsewhere, Pandora's described as only sleeping with men who are easily manipulated.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A little off center
I thought the character development in this novel was wonderful, making Eve and company jump of the page moreso than ever before. It was the murder investigation side that lacked in this entry. Bringing Mavis in as a potential killer was just too silly, followed by the nearly interchangeable actor/producer characters, topped off by two catty feuding models.

This was still a good fluff read, just not up with the previous two entries in the series.

Have become a huge fan of the "death" books as they always have danger associated with a super mystery, plus some humor to ease the tension.


Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Another masterpiece from Robb
Eve Dallas is, on the whole, a misanthrope, and appears to get on better with the dead than the living, but she's nothing if not fiercely loyal to her friends. When her best friend Mavis falls under suspicion for murder, Dallas brings all of her considerable skill to bear on the investigation to find the real killer and clear her friend.
Robb is enormously skilled at characterization and we have the extremely unlikeable Pandora portrayed so beautifully that our dislike spikes as soon as we meet her and no one is sorry she's killed. Juxtaposed with such an unlikeable character, Mavis, with all her sweet wackiness, gets us all on her side right off, even without our knowing she's Dallas' best friend.

There's nothing to say except that Nora does it again! She's is by far one of the best writers of our time. Each of her IN DEATH books are well written, the stories and mystery are totally awesome.
